Double 'R'

Watching American Experience I just heard Ronald Reagan use the word 'conflagration' correctly, pronouncing it well, in a press conference, off-the-cuff, in a response, right out of his head, to a question posed by a reporter. He was answering a question with a lucid, well-considered, statement of his beliefs. Why did we ever dislike this guy? It's amazing how low the bar has gotten under W. The political system of our country has gotten to this ultra-low game of rock-paper-scissors. I'll do, say or believe whatever I need to do, say or believe in order to beat, RIGHT NOW, whatever you do, say or believe. Today I'm a rock to your scissors. Tomorrow I'll be paper to your rock. Whatever it takes. And presiding over it all is W. who is looking and sounding really scary lately. And Nancy Pelosi is just as scary. McCain is sounding unhinged and yet Obama is saying nothing, playing it cool but actually disengaging himself in a way frankly unbecoming of a wannabe president.

This isn't exactly pertinent to this post, but I don't feel like emailing.

Anyway, it has been brought to my attention that most of the W clan (all?) think I'm some kind of wildly/blindly partisan McCain supporter. That disappoints me, especially considering not one of them (you and JAW are the closest to being exceptions) has actually asked me what my political opinions/beliefs are. I do not oppose everything the Democrats as a party (and regular Democrat citizens) support; however, I really do not like Democrat politicians, and I find their political tactics extremely distasteful. Here is a prime example of why (and I challenge anyone to disprove what this article asserts):

Also, I intensely dislike Bill O'Reilly, but he certainly had a legitimate point with this:

Ultimately, and maybe this is hard for you given where you are in your development as a member of our family but, who cares what they think? If I were you I wouldn't. I will always support you right to think and say what you want especially because I know you're someone that gets your news from a real variety of sources as opposed to (1) the New York Times/Review of Books/-er and/or (2) NPR.
